Getting away from it all

This week I am away on holiday – taking some time out to recharge and get away from it all. It feels like it has been a long time coming. We have been away for 2 days so far and as predicted day 1 was still full of worry and anxiety.

However, today we have been on a 4 hour walk and I have spent a good few hours chilling out in the hot tub with a book.

Can I just say, how great is reading! If you are ever feeling anxious and need to get away from it all I cant stress enough how a good book can take your mind of things. Getting lost in someone else’s story takes you away from what ever is causing your troubles and gives you a bit of piece. Even at my most poorly (not that I knew it at the time) I got through a lot of books. They really helped me when I could focus on anything else.

The combination of this, being outdoors most of the time and a few G&T’s have been the ingredients I have needed to make the most of my time away.

I mean what is the point of getting away from it all if all I am going to do is worry about everything I have left behind! Seem counterintuitive and a bit of a waste of a lovely trip!

I just wanted to share this after a sudden flash of inspiration! Now where is the ice…
